Midwest Democracy Network Partners with Public
Mapping Project
As part of their multi-state Midwest Campaign for Accountable Redistricting,
the 25 civic engagement and community organizations that make up the Midwest
Democracy Network will partner with the Public Mapping Project.
Launching the open-source, web-based District Builder software in six states --
Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin -- will be one
aspect of their efforts to pull the district line drawing process out from
behind closed doors into the public light.
District Builder will support the Midwest Democracy Network partner
organizations' goal: to make the redistricting process more transparent and
open to the public, while ensuring compliance with the Voting Rights Act. |
